The City Council of Aarhus passed a 10-year-investment plan entitled ‘Investments in the Future’ with its final adoption of the budget for 2004-2007 which took place in January 2004. It is evident from this investment plan that DKK 315.1 million (2003 price-level) has been granted ‘MEDIASPACE´in Aarhus. The overview of finances shows that the money has been granted as disclosed in the following table:

The expected earnings from the sale of the current main libray in Moelleparken must also be added to the net amount. This sale is estimated to earn appr. DKK 53.4 million (2003 price-level). Furthermore, earnings of DKK 3 million per year in rent will be included in the estimate. These earnings can be capitalised to appr. DKK 50 million in construction funds.

Thus the municipal construction funds will total appr. DKK 419.4 million (2003-price level) in the construction period.

MEDIASPACE a total of 21,000 square metres gross shall be built using these means. 18,000 square metres are to be utilised for MEDIASPACE functionalities, as described in the city council’s recommendation as well as in the concept paper, while 3,000 square metres are to be rented out to related activities.
